The human’s government is loosely based on the democratic governments before the world destroyed itself. War time has degraded the democratic process quite a bit but it still exists. The various districts within the cities have representatives that are voted onto the cities Senate. The president is chosen by the Senate and serves until the Senate feels he needs to be replaced at which time they can force him down and raise a new leader. The current President, Jeremy Cobble, is a very capable person who has served for 15 years leading humans through war, The Enlightenment, and into peace. He is respected for this and he has begun to use this respect to his own devices.
Since an uneasy peace has been declared the humans have repurposed the standing military, using the men who fought on the front lines to now police the streets of the last cities standing. This includes Librium since it is headed by the Corporations and they fall under human government jurisdiction. All members of this protectorate force still follow military ranks with officers leading and serving as detectives and the enlisted personal as the beat cops.
