Appearance:
Blake is your average guy. Six foot even with a build that is neither exceptionally sculpted nor soft, he is one who blends with society rather than stands out. He rarely keeps a freshly shaved appearance, preferring the stubble look or even a full beard upon occasion; depending upon his mood and the weather. His expression is somewhat grim with the area around his eyes dark from lack of sleep and a constant menthol tobacco scent clinging to him. He dresses casually ninety-nine percent of the time in straight leg jeans, converse, Hanes t-shirts and a jacket in cold weather. Sometimes, if the occasion calls for one, he throws in a nice button-down, but going as far as a tie and dress slacks is pushing it.

Personality:
On the outside, Blake is a functional man. He knows the limits of his charm and what it takes to push him over the edge. Blake works well under pressure, considering his career and the type of people he has to deal with on a daily basis. But beneath the solid exterior is a man slowly deteriorating. He suffers from severe insomnia and a mild addiction to caffeine. He has been diagnosed with depression and as a bipolar. His personal emotions are not easily deciphered and when it comes to commitment he's as skittish as a young filly.

History:
Paula Gray, mother of three rowdy boys and single parent. Blake, the eldest of these three children often felt like he had to be the man of the house because their father ran off before the youngest of them had been born. By the age of 13 he had his first job running a paper route early in the morning before school. As he grew in years, he switched jobs to whichever would pay the most in order for him to help his mother pay the bills and raise his two younger brothers. This was when his insomnia began to develop.

After high school he attended the local community college, earning a degree in criminal justice that would eventually lead him to the job he has today. Years of dedicated police service, where his time was split between a crumbling marriage and a dead-end job, molded Blake into the man he is today. It was in college that he met his wife, Ariel Mason, who was studying to be a pediatric nurse. She too came from a broken family and was the eldest of multiple siblings. They felt with that in common then there was no need to search any further for a partner.

But a happily ever after can never exist in a world filled with such evil and monstrous creatures. Two years post wedding, Blake and Ariel were preparing to welcome their first child into the world. The gender of the child they decided to leave a surprise until the birth, because if there was going to be any spontaneity in their marriage it might as well be with the kid. And when that fateful day arrived, as Blake was speeding through Bastion towards the hospital with his wife spread out in the backseat of his police cruiser, he never would have guessed that 12 hours later, both mother and child (a stillborn girl) would be laid out in the morgue. Ariel died due to unknown complications during labor.

After the death of his wife and the life his daughter never got to have, Blake was promoted from regular patrol into the Homicide department of the Bastion PD. He rarely sleeps now and has developed a particular taste for black coffee and menthol cigarettes. When he needs the comfort of a woman then his first choice is always a prostitute that lives in the same apartment building as him, two floors down.
