| As they chatted, and Blue made little comments, Ethan just smiled and nodded. He wasn't going to respond...or stoop to her level. That was too easy. Therefore, he simply ignored them, storing them away for later use. He would have his revenge, and it would be swift....soon. Those thoughts were simply stored away when she started kissing his neck. He wasn't sure about the specific reason...but he wasn't going to ask. Except for the fact that if she kept it up...the conversation was going to end, rather quickly.
Do you ever miss it? The things you forgot? I mean.. would you ever want to find out?
I don't know what I'm missing, so I never missed it initially. I don't think I would want to know, because then I would actually know what I lost. Friends, family, homes, places of importance: that's a lot of potential loss in one recovery of memories.
Blue talked about her family with great pride, but almost in a distant way. It was liked she loved the idea of her family, but wasn't nearly as close as she was or would like to be. The thought made Ethan a little sad. He had a decent excuse to not know his family, he felt Blue that she wasn't experiencing her family as much as she could....wait.
Did she just say she went to see them every Sunday!?! He raised an eyebrow in surprise, and he was mildly impressed. She had eluded him once a week...and he had no idea! It was then she talked about her brother dying, and the schism that erupted in her family. The pain was evident in her voice, and he listened to every word.
Blue...I'm so sorry. I promise, I'll never desert you. I want to keep you happy, just like your mother wants. As for the other stuff...don't raise your eyebrows at me! It it way too early for that.
I didn't know your uncle and father were Elven military too.
He sighed, thinking about his life in the military. Regret was never a thought that accompanied that memory until he knew her. She was a half elf, and the thought of hurting someone close to her...it was inconceivable.
I spent a lot of my time on the Elven front in the war. I ran guerrilla operations against Elven camps and bases. I....I can't say I'm really proud of everything I did in hindsight. Back then, "mindless grunt" described me pretty well. No comments. His eyes narrowed at her playfully, leaning in to stop any snark that she deemed fit to leave her mouth.
Blue Tiran, he stroked her chin as she looked up at him with those gorgeous eyes of hers. What the hell are you thinking, falling for a dumb cluck like me?
The question had more merit than it sounded...but for only Ethan Kelly did its meaning ring true. |

| She could understand him not really wanting to know. Not wanting to know what he really missed out on, and so she wouldn't go searching. It wouldn't be a good idea anyway. Afterall, it was likely he was right. That if she dug around and he got information it would only make him more heart broken for what he had before. She could respect that, she really could.
He told her that he promised to not desert her. Tears sprang to her eyes. He understood. That she had been deserted by her family when she was young. When she really needed them. And when they had finally realized that she was there, when they finally decided they wanted to spend some time with her, then, it was too late. She had already fallen into herself and was really fine doing her own thing. But she ached. Oh, she ached.
My father and my Uncle were in the Human army. My father fought with the humans until he was wounded terribly. My mother and father met during the war. His platoon left him behind, they had no time for the wounded, they would only be slowed down. My mother was traveling as a healer with the elves. She picked up my father. Healed him, and they took him to a med station, she was not helped, she did it all on her own. And as she nursed him back to health they kind of fell in love. It's real sweet, I think, that story, I.. I really wish.. wish that I could have such a thing.
He said he had been in the army. And fighting. And he had killed elves. She understood that. She had when he said he had been in the military and in the war. That was the way it had been. Blue had only had her brother die. She had a great deal of extended family, but it wasn't as though she really knew them all or anything. Still though, she could only give him a slight smile and then he asked her why she could be with someone like him.
Blue gave a little chuckle.
I don't know. I suppose the same thing you see in me. Which I'm not sure what that is either considering the fact that I'm constantly covered in grease, and smell, and tend to not sleep or eat for days on end and then.. I get completely lost in my work for ever. I don't understand what you see that others didn't see.
Blue twisted in his lap and she kissed him. Long, slow, and soft. This perfect place was the right place to just..kiss. She pulled him down so that they could lay in the grass. With her underneath him. Her hair spilling over the grass and the flowers. Her arms holding him around his neck. Her fingers enjoying the soft texture of his hair and the gentle pull of his lips. Paradise, if there ever was one. |

| Blue went through the story of her parents meeting, and how they had been on opposite sides of the fighting and fell in love through her mother nursing her father back to help. It was a nice story, and Blue seemed to hope that she could have such a thing.
What specifically do you want Blue? A sweet love story? Or a man you could fall in love with while you nursed him back to health? The way I see it, I was wounded pretty badly, and you saved my life...that's pretty close.
Blue seemed to be amused by the question as to why she was with him, and responded with a similar unknowing of her own.
I don't know. I suppose the same thing you see in me. Which I'm not sure what that is either considering the fact that I'm constantly covered in grease, and smell, and tend to not sleep or eat for days on end and then.. I get completely lost in my work for ever. I don't understand what you see that others didn't see.
There is NO way that its the same thing you see in me. I see what's under the grease, and piles of random stuff in a lab: a great sarcastic entity who has a fantastic ass and amazing eyes when she wants to show them off.
Most people want to see you as what you pretend to be: a shut-in who lives for her work. I know you better than that. Otherwise, why would you take a random day off to visit a wonderful place like this?
Her only reply was to twist in his lap and pull him in to a long kiss. It was the type of kiss that put your mind towards...other activities. Who knew what was going through her mind, but she fell back, pulling Ethan with her. Giggling as they rearranged themselves, him on top of her with her arms wrapped around his neck, they quickly went back to the matter at hand. They stayed their for easily twenty to thirty minutes, simply kissing and feeling each other out.
Finally after a brief break in the lip press, Ethan lay on Blues side, his arm under her head as she looked at him, a perpetual smile on her face since they had agreed to be together. He ran his index and middle fingers through her hair, direction the hair around her pointed ear, softly stroking them as they stared in to one another's eyes.
So, since this is your day off. What were the rest of your plans for the day? Or are we going to stay here kissing until the ferry stops running for the day?
He was fine with either plan, Ethan just was curious as to what else the woman of vast mechanical knowledge held in store for their plans. |

| What did she want?
She smiled.
Both? I guess. A sweet love.. one that.. I can take care of. That understands me, and loves me. Wants to spend time with me. You're right, I did kind of take care of you, a little, though it was mostly me just refusing to leave your bedside at the hospital.
She gave a little smile and a shrug. And he promised that he saw what was under the grease. Her eyes, and she couldn't help but blush when he mentioned that her butt was nice. She could only shake her head. He was right. Most people saw what she wanted them to see. People were stupid like that. They saw her for the shut in work-a-holic that was more comfortable covered in grease than lace. But, he was right, she had brought him here. She had brought him her favorite place. One she visited often.
They kissed after that, for a while. Laying in the grass. Exploring one another just a little bit. Nothing too big, since they were technically in public. Besides, she wasn't quite ready to go there just yet. Eventually, they ended up on their sides facing one another, and he was playing with her hair. He would soon learn that her ears were very sensitive, as when he brushed his fingers past them she couldn't help but shiver. In order to actually answer she had to push his fingers away from the tips of her ears so that words would come back to her.
Actually, we could. But no, I wanted to go to the shops. There is a small ecclectic set of shops here. Just a little ways away. I usually shop there, sometimes, when I come this way. I like them better than the bigger stores in the city. You want to go with me? she asked him curiously.
When he seemed not to care one way or another she got up and helped him clean up the picnic. Picking up her satchel and letting him the basket, she slid her hand in his. Because, now, she could. They weren't hiding their feelings now. They were going to be open about it at least towards each other. Out of the gardens, they headed to the East, where there was a small collection of buildings against the river they called The Boardwalk. That was their next destination.
You know, I've never gotten to see your place. Where do you stay when you aren't being creepy stalker babysitter in front of my apartment? |

| After a bit of laying in the grass not saying a word but letting their eyes speak volumes to one another, Blue pulled his fingers from her hair and her ear before she spoke. All "John" could do was smile. Her ears were probably sensitive and he would need to store that information for later.
Actually, we could. But no, I wanted to go to the shops. There is a small eclectic set of shops here. Just a little ways away. I usually shop there, sometimes, when I come this way. I like them better than the bigger stores in the city. You want to go with me?
Ethan nodded with another smile for her. I probably should, being your ultra unprofessional bodyguard.
They slowly rose and cleaned up the picnic, shooting quick glances at one another and smiles that seemed to make the task go far faster. After everything was put away, he picked up in the basket in his right hand and took Blue's hand in the other. No matter the situation, he was always thinking like a bodyguard and the current hand situation gave him access to his firearm without having to let go of her.
They walked quietly through the garden towards the buildings and harbor area where they had started their day, enjoying the day and the sights around them. Every once and a while, Blue would run her thumb across the back of his hand and he would squeeze in return. They eventually got to an area that Blue had described as "The Boardwalk." It was filled with little shops and cafe's. The small town feel of the area was a refreshing change to big city life in Librium.
You know, I've never gotten to see your place. Where do you stay when you aren't being creepy stalker babysitter in front of my apartment?
Chuckling, Ethan shook his head before smiling at her. No, you haven't. Do you remember going to your New Dawn corporate apartment for the first time? She nodded in that cute way she does. Has it always been cute? Hmmm. Well, it still looks like that, but smaller than yours.
They walked around the area for what seemed like quite some time, window shopping and the like. So, were you looking for anything in particular you needed in these shops? Or are we just paroosing for a while? The reason I ask is that if we stay here long enough, I think that cafe near the dock would be a great place to have a light dinner for a couple hours. You know, good company and getting to spend some time watching the boat come in and out. Thoughts?
Beyond that, Ethan still had one thing he needed to address with Blue...he couldn't let what he had said the other day stand. He needed to figure something out. |

| They walked.
Hand in hand. Looking into the windows of the various shops. It seemed as though this day off had turned into some sort of date for her. When they stopped for a while at the store, she found her head laying on his shoulder. Or her thumb stroking across the back of his hand. His hand would squeeze hers, and occassionally she would snuggle in for a soft quick kiss before they would head off down the lane.
He asked if they would be at this for a while. His idea, to have dinner at the cafe was a brilliant one. They could sit on the patio and watch the boat come in and out. Until, it was ready for the last trip of the day which they could take back to the city proper. She could only imagine how beautiful the sunset would be on the way back sharing it with someone like John.
Nothing particular no, but I think I can make sure we waste enough time to have dinner at the cafe and catch the last boat ride back home. Lets go in here. Maybe we can find something nice to wear, or whatever. Who knows, it's a boutique.
They stepped into the building and it was just that. Lots of clothes hung on the racks and she was actually attracted to some of them which was a complete rarity. She was not much for shopping at all actually. She was just the kind of woman that bought stuff over the internet that she assumed looked nice because for the most part it wasn't as though she had anywhere she was going to have to wear them at. Usually, she just wore what was comfortable. Anything nice, had probably been bought by Neona.
Okay, so I know clothes shopping probably isn't your cup of tea. But seeing as there is no salvage yard here or anything, I figure we could look around for a moment and then hit the rare and new book store across the street. That should soak up enough time to get to the cafe for dinner?
She gave a smile to him as they walked. She ran her fingers over silk blouses that she doubted she would ever be able to wear. Sometimes, she felt like she wanted to look girly. Almost, like she had today. But there were times, she knew better. Because ninety percent of the time, she was going to get covered in grease or gunk by the end of the day. Sometimes it was just helping someone with a broken down car on a street, and other times it was because she got sidetracked and started working before she realized what she was wearing. |

| As they chatted as they romanced their way around the Boardwalk, Blue finally suggested they check out a small boutique shop she kept glancing at from time to time. She suggested they find something nice to wear, which caused Ethan to chuckle. Are you suggesting that what I'm wearing isn't nice enough to have dinner with you? He teased her as they entered. For a relatively small shop, it had a rather large selection of designer clothing. Okay, so I know clothes shopping probably isn't your cup of tea. But seeing as there is no salvage yard here or anything, I figure we could look around for a moment and then hit the rare and new book store across the street."John" nodded and smiled. It sounded like a plan, and they broke off as Blue went to gaze at some silk blouses. Looking through the various racks, he found some clothes that fit the occasion and his taste which he promptly pulled from the racks. You'd look fantastic in that muted yellow one. What's that look for? Yes, I happen to be fashion sensible madam. The look on Blue's face was a mix between utter shock and near burst out laughter. He dismissed her with a wave of his hand and proceeded to the counter, where he quietly payed for his items and casually walked to the dressing rooms. Ethan left Blue to her business while he changed in to his new digs, finally leaving the dressing room in a new light cream-colored sweater and an elbow-patch blazer. What do you think Blue? Do I look dapper enough? I'm taking a lady out for dinner tonight, think she'll like it? |

| Muted Yellow?
Blue's eyes shot over to him. Giving him a little glare to see if he was playing with her. But it wasn't. He honestly was trying to help her. Normally, she didn't go for yellow. It was too bright, too obvious, and it was a little out of her very slim comfort zone. But if he liked it, she supposed that she could at least try it on. This one wasn't bright, and it had splashes of green and purple in it which made it less yellow and more pretty than just a slab of yellow.
Which she was more likely to be into wearing.
She continued to look around. The yellow blouse over her arm softly as she looked for something that would match. She found some amazing purple heels that she would probably only wear this once. But her shoes wouldn't work as well and the purple would. So she picked them up and found a slender pretty beaded bracelet and as she headed to the dressing room her eyes widened.
Oh.. Rivers, I really like that coat on you. You should get it. You'd actually look like you were at work at the lab. she grinned. That fine lady, is quite lucky to have a man such as yourself on her arm.
She grinned as she passed him and headed into a dressing room of her own. She changed and put her old clothes in her satchel, thankful for the extra room. She kept her same jeans as before, there was no reason to change them when they would work with the blouse anyway. She adjusted everything and looked at herself.
It was so out of her element.
But she had to admit it didn't really look half bad. Gathering up her things and taking the tags of all the items she was wearing off she stepped out of the dressing room to find John wondering if he would think the outfit was okay. The heels were no problem, when she rocked heels they were always high.
So.. what do you think? Would this do for dinner with my illicit lover I meet with covertly after work? |

| Blue seemed to like the jacket, and that made the purchase all the more right in his mind. She disappeared in to a dressing room as Ethan examined himself in the tall multi-mirror in the middle of the boutique. He really did look dapper in this outfit. At that particular moment, his commlink rang, but it wasn't his New Dawn comm. It was the other comm.
Pulling it from his pocket, he saw the restricted number come on the caller ID, but he knew who it was: his handler. He knew he couldn't answer it now, especially if Blue came in and decided to eavesdrop on the call. Could she even do that? Either way it wasn't worth the risk. Slipping the comm back in to his other pocket, he turned just in time to see Blue leave the dressing room. She was a vision in yellow, green and purple; like a Mardi Gras cake with vivid eyes.
Wow...you look amazing Blue. Ethan stared with a slightly gaping mouth. She really did look stunning in the matching purple heels. Plus, it put her in the perfect kissing position, he would barely need to bend to peck those lips.
So.. what do you think? Would this do for dinner with my illicit lover I meet with covertly after work?
"John's" ears peaked at that comment as he motioned her to the triple mirror to see herself from all angles. He placed his hands on her hips softly and spoke lightly in her right ear...knowing the effect now.
I think it would do fine my dear. Your lover will find you enchanting in the soft silk. He switched ears, making his breath heavy so it was sure to touch her sensitive skin. I do also hope you're describing me...or I'm going to skin him alive and gut him like a fish. He kissed her softly on the cheek with a slight smile in the mirror.
That would show the bastard. |

| Ohhhh her ear.
Blue couldn't help the tremors that ran up and down her body while he spoke in a way that made his breath rush across the sensitive ears. She couldn't help it. He had found one of her weaknesses and she was certain, the way that he was, he would be using it often. He told her that her lover would like it, especially the silk. And then mentioned, that he hoped she was talking about him, and not someone else that he was going to have to kill.
Blue chuckled, turned around, and kissed him softly with her arms wrapped around his neck. Of course, it's you.
They paid for their purchases. Headed to the book store to waste a bit more time before they headed to the cafe. With her satchel, bag from the clothes store (with her old clothes in it), and a few books in a cloth book bag on her arm they stepped into the cafe and were seen quickly to a nice booth.
Blue sat down and she looked over the menu. Lunch had been great, but she was really craving something that was greasy and yummy. So she was going to go with a cheese infused burger with some bacon, a side of cheese fries, and a nice thick chocolate shake. Nothing like the classics to really make something yummy.
They had the perfect seat. From her spot she could easily see the wheeled boat making it's way across the river. There was something just insanely magical about that boat. She kind of wondered if it would be possible to be married on it some day. But that, she doubted, becuase, she doubted she was the kind of girl that anyone was going to be with long enough to get married. To even propose. She figured that she was the kind of girl most guys toyed with for a little while, before they realized that there were better women out there. Ones that didn't get lost in their work for days, and ones that didn't come home dirtier than they were.
You know, this day, has really turned out nicely. I'm very thankful that you came with me. And, that we had our little talk in the garden. Really, set some things right. |

| She spun around, taking advantage of her extra height to get an extra kiss. He didn't mind, but he knew by her shivers and quick response her ears were his new favorite spot. It would lead to great things...but that would wait for later.
They walked through the bookstore and Blue picked up some books. Nothing in the little shop seemed to appeal to Ethan, so he neglected to purchase anything. He did offer to carry her books, which she promptly declined. Shaking his head and rolling his eyes, "John" decided that sometimes Blue was too stubborn for her own good and he left her to the book bag as well as her satchel. They walked the half of a block to the cafe and sat down in a window booth, Ethan giving up his preferred seat so that Blue could see the wheeled boat. It was true, he couldn't see the entrance, but if there were assassins in the Boardwalk...whatever.
He had lived enough life right there. For a moment, he had a woman who cared about him more than any other...and that was enough.
Blue ordered a huge amount of food, which nearly made Ethan's eyes goggle simply at the sheer amount of it. He ordered a simple turkey club with potato salad and a water with lemon. They chatted about nothing until their food came, where they ate in near complete silence.
Where you put it, I'll never know. Ethan said, chuckling.
You know, this day, has really turned out nicely. I'm very thankful that you came with me. And, that we had our little talk in the garden. Really, set some things right.
With that note, Ethan's face changed. Things weren't set right....but he knew he had to do it. Reaching over to take her hand, he squeezed it softly.
Blue, We really didn't set anything straight. I said some hurtful, horrible things. I want to truly set them straight. I promise I will...very soon.
He would too. He knew exactly where to start...but he would need a couple days for preparation, but Blue was going to lose it.
Best. Dates. Ever. |
