Historical Information:

World War II had turned the world into a larger war. One that spanned more than country against country. But Human against Other. This had reunited Humans with the truth, magic was real. For so long it had been thought of as nothing but a myth, legend, a dream. The ancestors that had once held the knowledge of witchcraft and magics were long gone. Without them, it all became stories. Things read in books and never attempted. For fear of being an outcast. For fear of history repeating itself as it often does. The Salem Witchtrials and the Crusades were never quite forgotten.

When humans realized that magic was indeed more than a myth they began to throw everything they could into researching it. Finding old books, tomes, stories. Anything they could get their hands on. Something that would help them get a grasp on the newly realized powers. They wanted to be able to find a way to hone these abilities. A way to cast and not pass out. How to use their magic, and hopefully, use it against the Others.

The Academy was initially thrown together, haphazardly. Using knowledge they could find, they began to train those humans, mostly the adults, in the art of using their magic. But not just using, using it to kill the Others. To fight them with the powers that they themselves had. They began to train Magic wielding soldiers, men and women trained to combat the Others with their own weapon. Those that did not fight continued to research this vast unknown power, to attain a greater understanding of what it was, and how it could be put to use.

War waged on for two centuries and the Academy of Greater Enlightenment tirelessly continued its research. Any and every scrap that could be unearth was deciphered, and when no more could be found, they turned to other means. Others that had been captured during the war were remanded to A.G.E. custody where they were tortured for any secrets that could be torn from them. Thanks to these ruthless methods, human knowledge and understanding grew at an astounding rate.

When Enlightenment happened, and Terra revolted against the world at war. The war was forced to stop, but the school was still exists. The Academy of Greater Enlightenment used all of its magical prowess to see that it survived the global cataclysm. With its knowledge preserved, A.G.E. now focuses its efforts towards expanding upon its accumulated knowledge, and teaching those humans who possess the gift of magic how best to utilize it. While it no longer resorts to the darker methods it once employed, There are those in the Academy who see power as an end that justifies any means to obtain it.
